Donice Bryant Announces Her Candidacy For District 8 County Commissioner post thumbnail

My name is Donice Bryant, it is with much excitement that I am announcing my candidacy for Bibb County Commissioner District 8. I am a very eager, dedicated and virtuous woman. I am running for this position because I believe I can bring a fresh outlook to the board of Commissioners. There are pressing issues facing our community and I want to be a part of the solution. Citizens need to have confidence that their needs will be met by our county government.

I was born in Perry, GA, my hometown but I grew up in Atlanta GA. I graduated from Southside High School with honors. I completed studies in Criminal Justice at Macon State College. I moved to Macon, GA in 1998 and soon joined the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department in 1999, where I have dedicated ½ of my life to my career in law enforcement. During my career I have worn many hats. Not just daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, but also a good neighbor and friend. I have worked in Corrections, Dispatch, on Patrol, (mainly Districts 4 & 5), Warrant division and many different network businesses throughout Macon Ga and surrounding cities. I have worked with Youth, volunteered at HeadStart, worked with youth at Parks and Recs, a houseparent at an all-girls group home, and volunteered at Salvation Army on several holidays.

I have 3 children that all attended local schools and were raised in District 8. I initially got into Law Enforcement to make a change and serve in my community. Now I would like to take a bigger step and work hand in hand with my community, striving to make a change. I will use my community development and connections experience to work with small and large businesses to help bring jobs for our youth, citizens and revenues for our tax bill. I will support Police and Fireman to make sure that our communities stay safe. Another agenda I have in serving the community, is repairing the roads in our communities and adding cameras to as many neighborhoods as possible. I would also like to address the infrastructure of the abandoned buildings that now sit vacant in District 8.

In short, my goal is to get back to the basics, and that is looking out for our citizens here, that have supported Macon.

I have strong beliefs and I believe If we do good in our community, Good will come back to our community.
