Macon has long been a community of great vision and opportunity. Imagine the civic pride and foresight it took when, in 1871, the citizens of Macon issued a $100,000 bond to finance construction of new administrative buildings and gave eight acres of land to Mercer University to bring the school to Macon. Imagine the sense of community and accomplishment when the City Auditorium was completed in 1925 and Terminal Station in 1916. In recent years we, as a community, have not been able to see how truly great we are. However, the light of a new day has started to come across our community. Successes like the location of Nichiha USA, Inc. and Kumho Tires show that we are a community that others want to come to, as well as place for future growth, not just regionally or nationally, but now internationally. We are a diverse community that offers numerous advantages, from healthcare to several institutions of higher learning, as well as multiple events contributing to a better quality of life.

The goal of my administration is to help bring progress and prosperity to all residents of Macon. This is a challenge that I cannot accomplish by myself, it will take a community effort and all must play a role in the future of Macon. In the coming months and years my goal is to find new ways to address the concerns we have in our community. There are several issues that we must address, from the pay scale for all city employees to creation of a one stop shop for licensing and fees. We are also looking for new ways to promote and increase the viability of Macon, and every citizen can help in that respect.

Today I feel we are truly coming together, there is hope for what our city can be, if we all work together. There will be no quick fixes in my administration; instead I am keeping my focus on what will bring the best long-term success to Macon. I would like to thank and congratulate the Macon-Middle Georgia Black Pages and Resources Guide on another successful edition.
